The purpose of the Raleigh Aquarium Society is to increase the enjoyment and general knowledge of the aquarium hobby for both novices and experienced hobbyists. Society activities include presentations, field trips, sharing information, trading fish and plants, observation of fishes and aquatic life in aquaria and in their native habitat. Give us a visit! We have monthly meetings at 7:30pm on the first Thursday of each month at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine Research Building to discuss fishkeeping as a hobby with guest speakers. We also
have an annual workshop and auction plus
a summer picnic.
The Raleigh Aquarium Society's forum is now up and running. Be sure to register (it's free) and participate in aquarium related discussions. Atlanta Area Aquarium Association will have their Spring auction on March 25th,2012
February 2012 2011 Program (2/2/12 @ 7:30pm) – “Breeding Fish for Fun & Profit”: Larry Jinks and Frank Montillo are two of our clubs most prolific fish breeders. This month, they're going to tell us how they've succeeded in their latest endeavors. Larry's finally spawned the Blue-ringed Octopus and Frank, not wanting to be outdone, is raising six baby great whites! They're really cute when they're little! Come hear about these experiences and other fantastic stories. As always, keep those silent auction and raffle items coming in. You still can get up to five free raffle tickets when you donate up to five items for the monthly meeting raffle. If you have fish or plants for the silent auction, please contact Larry Jinks so he can alert the membership of your special items. We hope to see you there. Don’t forget that we are now meeting back in the South Theater of the NCSU Vet School Library downstairs. Business meetings are open to everyone who is interested in participating in Committees, general business of the club and the Workshop and Swap Meet planning. The Business Meetings are open to anyone who is interested in participating in the business and future plans for the club. Meetings are held at the same location as the regular meetings at 7:30pm. See the latest newsletter for the dates of the business meetings.
Trading Post: Club members can send their ad information to raleighaquariumsociety@yahoo.com. Please send all trading post items by noon on the Wednesday before the first Thursday of the month in order to get them in that month's newsletter.
