The purpose of the Raleigh Aquarium Society is to increase the enjoyment and general knowledge of the aquarium hobby for both novices and experienced hobbyists. Society activities include presentations, field trips, sharing information, trading fish and plants, observation of fishes and aquatic life in aquaria and in their native habitat. Give us a visit! We have monthly meetings at 7:30pm on the first Thursday of each month at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine Research Building to discuss fishkeeping as a hobby with guest speakers. We also
have an annual workshop and auction in late February/ early March plus
a summer picnic.
The Raleigh Aquarium Society would like to thank the guest speakers, vendors, volunteers, and attendees of our 25th Annual Workshop and Auction. Come back and see us in 2010!
February 4th, 2010 Program: Collecting Aquarium Literature This month, Todd Wenzel will entertain us with a talk about the media that keeps our hobby informed and up to date, collecting aquarium literature. We’re not just speaking of a stack of magazines in the corner or a shelf full of books. We’ll learn about the earliest publications, the largest contributors and even the new online issues. Todd will give you the tools to organize what you have, how to protect it, and see what it might be worth. Don’t forget those extra plants and fish for the raffle table. We’ve been doing very well in the raffle department lately. Come on out and get your share.
Trading Post: Club members can send their ad information to raleighaquariumsociety@yahoo.com. Please send all trading post items by noon on the Wednesday before the first Thursday of the month in order to get them in that month’s newsletter. Business meetings are open to everyone who is interested in participating in Committees, general business of the club and the Workshop and Swap Meet planning. Business Meetings are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the NC State Vet School Research Building. |
