The purpose of the Raleigh Aquarium Society is to increase the enjoyment and general knowledge of the aquarium hobby for both novices and experienced hobbyists. Society activities include presentations, field trips, sharing information, trading fish and plants, observation of fishes and aquatic life in aquaria and in their native habitat.

Give us a visit! We have monthly meetings at 7:30pm on the first Thursday of each month at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine Research Building to discuss fishkeeping as a hobby with guest speakers.

We also have an annual workshop and auction in late February/ early March plus a summer picnic.

To join our monthly mailing list, send an email to:
raleighaquariumsociety@yahoo.com
raleighaquariumsociety@yahoo.com with "RAS subscribe" as the subject.

Next club meeting will be on Sunday, July 5th, 2009 - the annual club collecting trip/ picnic.

Field Trip: Meet at 10:30am in the back of the parking lot behind BB&T Bank, Crabtree West Branch, 4409 Creedmoor Rd, Raleigh. This is on the south side of Crabtree Creek, just west of Crabtree Valley Mall, near the point where Edwards Mill Rd becomes Creedmoor Rd. From there we can walk along the greenway trail to access places along the creek that look good for seining.

Picnic:

Starts around 1:00pm.  We're going to plan on starting to serve food at around 2:00pm.  As usual, everyone should bring their own chairs, sunscreen, bug spray and a side dish or dessert to share.  The club will provide meat, drinks, ice and papergoods.

We won't be having a speaker, but we do plan on holding a raffle.  If you have items to donate - don't forget you can get up to 3 free raffle tickets for plants, fish, dry goods that you bring in to add to the raffle table.
